ABOUT INIS ARTS

Who are Inis Arts

Rooted in Irish culture and shaped by life in Athens, Greece, our work brings together Greek and Irish artists, with many local musicians performing Irish traditional and contemporary music, while also welcoming leading Irish traditional musicians and artists from Ireland. Together, we create space for creative dialogue between Greece and Ireland through performances, workshops, and community gatherings.

Inis Arts is the cultural association behind the Athens Irish Festival — an annual cultural festival in Athens now entering its fifth year, where music, poetry, storytelling, and collaboration come together to honour Irish heritage while building meaningful connections with local and international communities.

The festival is volunteer-run and takes place outdoors over three days, welcoming musicians, poets, storytellers, filmmakers, artisans, and folk enthusiasts for an open, community-centred celebration of culture and connection.

Beyond live music and performances, the festival also offers creative workshops and storytelling activities for children, helping young audiences engage with Irish culture in playful and inclusive ways.

In addition to local and international contributors, we regularly host artists from Ireland, creating space for collaboration across traditions, languages, and art forms.

Inspired by the deep similarities between Irish and Greek culture — from storytelling and music to hospitality and community — our work is grounded in experimentation, education, and shared creative experience. From mixing Gaeilge and Greek to exploring common musical and storytelling traditions, we create inclusive spaces where culture is lived, shared, and reimagined together.
